MESICS Omega-3:
Processed by molecular distillation, MESICS-Omega-3
is an excellent source of these fatty acids, providing
450 mg of docosahexeanoic acid(DHA) and 150 mg eicosapentaenoic
acid(EPA) per serving.
EPA and DHA are essential fatty acids that support
many of the structures and functions so necessary to
the maintenance of a sound mind in a healthy body.
Low levels of DHA may adversely influence behavior
and mental performance, and have been correlated with
changes in disposition, memory loss, and visual and
other neurological conditions.
Studies have shown that DHA, along with EPA can play
an important role in cardiovascular health. Fish oil’s
abilities as an anti-inflammatory can support the body’s
normal inflammatory processes and cardiac health. EPA
and DHA can act as precursors for the anti-inflammatory
prostaglandins E1 and E3, and decrease the formation
of pro-inflammatory prostaglandin E2 and thromboxane
A2.
Alpha Lipoic Acid:
Alpha-lipoic acid is an important ingredient in the
MSLF because it neutralizes free radicals just about
everywhere in the body. Inside and outside the cells.
Due to its unique sulfur-containing structure, alpha-lipoic
acid can scavenge several types of free radicals, such
as the highly reactive hydroxyl, and singlet oxygen
free radicals.
Because alpha-lipoic acid is involved in so many different
antioxidant functions in virtually all body tissues,
it has been called the universal antioxidant. In FDA
supported studies, ALA was shown to powerfully support
the healthy structure and function of the liver.
ALA supplementation supports and maintains health by
stimulating glutathione synthesis, enhancing insulin
signaling and regulating the activity of other cell
signaling molecules and transcription factors thereby
supporting metabolic health..
N-Acetyl L-Cysteine:
N-Acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) is a precursor for the sulfur
amino acid cysteine, and cysteine is used by the body
to synthesize glutathione. Glutathione is a naturally
occurring tripeptide which is a major component of two
free radical fighting enzymes - glutathione peroxidase
and glutathione reductase. As such, glutathione offers
one mechanism for scavenging toxic free radicals and
inhibiting peroxidation thereby supporting healthy structure
and function by slowing down free-radical catalyzed
chain reactions. NAC is efficiently transported into
the cell where it is readily converted to cysteine for
glutathione synthesis. Thus, supplementation with NAC
can raise intracellular glutathione levels.
NAC protects against neuroinflammatory and autoimmune
problems. Studies show NAC can support memory and brain
function.
C-1000: Vitamin
C (ascorbic acid) is a highly effective antioxidant.
Even in small amounts vitamin C can protect indispensable
molecules in the body, such as proteins, lipids (fats),
carbohydrates, and nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) from
damage by free radicals and reactive oxygen species
that can be generated during normal metabolism as well
as through exposure to toxin, stress hormones and the
challenges of aging.
Vitamin C is also needed for the synthesis of collagen,
an important structural component of blood vessels,
tendons, ligaments, and bone. Vitamin C facilitates
synthesis of norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter important
to brain function. Vitamin C is also needed to synthesize
carnitine, a small molecule that transfers fat to the
energy center of cellular life—the mitochondria—for
conversion to energy.
